The Riderbag Backpack Story

Do you ride “hoping” that the cars behind you see you? I used to not worry, until… It was a typical Wednesday night; I closed the shop, threw on my motorcycle jacket, put my laptop in my bag, and began my motorcycle commute home.

Everything was going well until I reached the last stop sign just around the corner from my house. BAM! I was thrown off my motorcycle. As I pulled myself together, the motorist walks up to me and says, “I didn’t see you.” This came as a surprise since I was wearing a protective jacket that had reflective material on the back, but the problem was that I was wearing a black backpack on top covering a large portion of it.

Thankfully since it was a stop sign, the car didn’t hit me at high speed, and I made it home okay. But as a bike commuter and entrepreneur, I had a new mission, create the best commuter backpack to keep other riders safer by keeping them visible. After all, I have a family to come home to, and safety is essential.

 Features of the Best Commuter Backpack:

I began analyzing my needs as a daily commuter and decided that at a minimum, I needed a biking backpack had to have the following features:

• Hi-Visibility
• Reflective
  
• Spacious 35L backpack
  
• Water Proof
  
• Light-Weight

For days, I searched for a backpack that had all the above specifications and I didn’t find anything. Some of the options were too small, did not have enough reflection on them, were reflective but not hi-visibility, or were not waterproof.

My entrepreneur juices began to flow! I added more specs to what I would like as a rider, for instance, an underneath zipper to add a back protector and a helmet net that I could attach to the backpack for when I wanted to walk around. I was determined to design the best bike backpack around!

After a year and a half of prototypes and testing, the Rider Bag Reflektor35 was born!  It is designed as a commuter backpack for anyone who rides any 2-wheel vehicles, whether it be a bicycle, scooter, electric bike, e-skateboard, but is also a great travel and outdoor backpack.
